  • Today (SN24): On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed that offensive coordinator Matt Canada had been dismissed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had one of the worst offenses in the National Football League.
  • The offensive coordinator position has been relinquished by Matt Canada, according to a statement released by Tomlin. “I appreciate Matt’s hard work and dedication, and I wish him the best moving forward in his career.”
  • After 10 games this season, the Steelers (6-4) were tied for the fewest points scored and yards gained in the league. With a 16th-ranked rushing attack, they have the second-worst passing offense.
  • Over the first 11 weeks of the season, the Steelers had not scored more than 27 points in a single game. Five times, their total score was less than eighteen. After seven games, the offense was unable to amass over 300 yards.As a quarterbacks coach, Canada (51) came to the Steelers in 2020. 2021 saw him promoted to offensive coordinator. For 2021 and 2022, they were rated twenty-third in yards.
  • In 2022, they came in 26th place, while in 2021, they were rated 21st. After finishing 29th in yards the previous two seasons, the Steelers’ running offense has significantly improved since 2021. They were 28th this season in yards passing, having fallen from 23rd in 2021 and 2022.
  • During his last season with Canada in 2021, veteran quarterback Ben Rethlisherger retired in the off-season. After that, in 2022, the Steelers looked at rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett.
  • Pick number twenty in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett completed 60.5% of his throws for 1,722 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions in 10 starts this season. His throwing yardage did not surpass 235 yards in the period in which he threw multiple touchdown passes, precisely once.
