Every year, Ormond Beach hosts a brunch event in honor of MLK Day.
Breakfast was provided at the Joe and Elwillie Daniels South Ormond Neighborhood Center in a carry-out arrangement.
On Monday, January 15, the city of Ormond Beach and its Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee celebrated MLK Day with their yearly breakfast event.
The Joe and Elwillie Daniels South Ormond Neighborhood Center, located at 176 Division Avenue, served grits, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and biscuits to attendees of the “dine and dash” carry-out breakfast. For more than thirty years, the city has commemorated MLK Day with a brunch gathering.
For individuals who were unable to attend the celebration in person, breakfast deliveries were also delivered.
Tina Carlyle, chair of the MLK Committee, hopes that the event will resume its pre-COVID-19 structure, which included dance performances and speakers, for the following year.
In addition to Carlyle, this year’s MLK Committee was formed by Belinda Davis, Bobbie George, Veronica Jones, and Pastor George Ward.
