The city of Ormond Beach and its Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee commemorated MLK Day with its annual breakfast celebration on Monday, Jan. 15. The breakfast, held in a "dine and dash" carry-out format, provided participants with grits, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and a biscuit, served at the Joe and Elwillie Daniels South Ormond Neighborhood Center at 176 Division. Ave. The city has celebrated MLK Day with a breakfast event for over three decades. Breakfast deliveries were also made to those who couldn't attend the celebration in person. MLK Committee Chairperson Tina Carlyle hopes next year's celebration can return to its pre-COVID-19 format, which featured speakers and dance performances. In addition to Carlyle, this year's MLK Committee was composed of Belinda Davis, Bobbie George, Veronica Jones and Pastor George Ward.

On Monday, January 15, the city of Ormond Beach and its Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee celebrated MLK Day with their yearly breakfast event.
The Joe and Elwillie Daniels South Ormond Neighborhood Center, located at 176 Division Avenue, served grits, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and biscuits to attendees of the “dine and dash” carry-out breakfast. For more than thirty years, the city has commemorated MLK Day with a brunch gathering.
For individuals who were unable to attend the celebration in person, breakfast deliveries were also delivered.

Tina Carlyle, chair of the MLK Committee, hopes that the event will resume its pre-COVID-19 structure, which included dance performances and speakers, for the following year.

In addition to Carlyle, this year’s MLK Committee was formed by Belinda Davis, Bobbie George, Veronica Jones, and Pastor George Ward.
