The Happiest Place on Earth had shutdowns due to an earthquake of magnitude 3.5 before resuming operations.
State of California: A small earthquake nearby caused the temporary closure of 35 rides at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Southern California, leaving guests stunned.
About two miles from the parks, in the city of Fullerton in Orange County, there was an earthquake on Monday night shortly after eight o’clock that had a magnitude of 3.5, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Around 8:30 p.m., a milder aftershock occurred. The USGS reports that over 2,800 individuals reported experiencing the earthquake.
Although neither theme park initially had damage or injuries, visitors who were wanting to ride their favorite attractions, such as Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds, experienced delays as a result of the earthquake. Not even the It’s a Small World holiday attractions or the recently opened Adventureland Treehouse remained open.
Hold on: because the new nightly spectacle from EPCOT is an emotional rollercoaster.
By Monday night, around nine o’clock, most attractions were closed, according to the Disneyland app. At Disneyland, only the Mad Tea Party and the Jungle Cruise were operating. At the nearby California Adventure, only Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree were operational at this time.
Some of the most popular rides at Disney California Adventure, including the Incredicoaster, Toy Story Midway Mania, and even Radiator Springs Racers from Cars Land, were under temporary closure.
On their Instagram account, Napa photographer Elise Delamare said, “3.5 earthquake strikes as we were in line at Winnie the Pooh and everything is down now.” “They’re saying they’ll open them again if safety procedures are completed.”
As a safety measure, staff members had to remove riders off the rides, according to the Orange County Register.
The app indicates that most rides were operating as of Tuesday afternoon, while the Jungle Cruise and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance were momentarily closed.
No alert for a tsunami: Two distinct earthquakes struck Hawaii, California, with magnitudes of 5.1 and 3.5.
