Reality-TV star Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who was most recognized for being Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s sister and Mama June Shannon’s daughter, passed away after a lengthy illness. She was 29 years old.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Shannon revealed the news of her daughter’s passing.

We must announce that Anna is no longer with us, and we do so with heavy hearts. Shannon posted a family picture with the note, “She passed away in my house last night quietly at 11:12 PM.” “For ten months, she put up one heck of a battle. We will keep you informed as we get more information today. She passed away with her loved ones around. We love you all and will be sending our family our best wishes and prayers during this trying time.

Erin Santucci, a spokesman for Shannon, confirmed Cardwell’s passing to the USA today via email on Sunday.

We TV and Think Factory Media stated in a statement that they were “extremely saddened by the passing of Anna Cardwell, a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and friend.” We send our deepest sympathies to June, Pumpkin, Alana, Jessica, and their families at this trying time. Though Anna’s brightness and enthusiasm will always be remembered, she will be sincerely missed.

TMZ claims that in January, Cardwell received a diagnosis of stage 4 adrenal cancer. After beginning her third round of chemotherapy in May, Cardwell shared an update on her condition on Instagram.

Cardwell captioned a photo she took with her husband, Eldridge Toney, saying, “This was yesterday.” “It was happy to see Cracker Barrel go down, but not up.” However, everything is going well generally, and the chemotherapy is functioning as we discover.”

Cardwell appeared in the 2012-2014 season of the TLC reality series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which focused on the family of young contestant “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. Alongside Thompson, Cardwell was a cast member of the 2012–2013 season of the reality TV program “Toddlers & Tiara.”

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Thompson expressed her sorrow at the loss of her sister.

Writing from a shattered heart, Thompson said, “I truly don’t know what to say.” Observing my sister, 29, struggle with this terrible illness for the last year has not been easy. Anna has always been a warrior.

She also stated, “I’m so happy you decided to hold off on dying until I got home! Though I know you will always be in heaven supporting me, I would have wanted for you to be there when I graduated from college! Together, we’ll ensure that your legacy endures forever. I also swear to always remember to celebrate your birthday as if it were the last one! Today, the sky seems quite different. Anna, you are our forever love.

Cardwell and Thompson went to their mother Shannon during her February wedding to lover Justin Stoud. Along with Cardwell’s siblings Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Shannon’s grandkids Stella, Sylus, and Bentley Efird were present for the beachside ceremony in Panama City, Florida.

According to a statement from Mama June, “this was the first time the family had been together since 2014.” “Wedding here, a site where my family and I had so many experiences together, was incredibly precious.”
